Just as with any good partnership and any other project, preparation is the most important thing. PROLOGA gave a first overview of the "SAP Mobile On-Site Billing for SAP Utilities by PROLOGA" product and architecture in a 2-week training at EOH WFM Solutions, headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa.
About EOH WFM Solutions - Company formerly known as About Time Software:
EOH WFM Solutions has a long history of delivering Workforce Management Solutions, with the core team having been involved in Enterprise Mobility since 1996. With that background EOH has successfully deployed Mobility and Service Scheduling systems in industries such as Utilities, IT Services, Home Services and Telecommunications. EOH supports a number of best of breed Workforce Management platforms.
The global partnership with PROLOGA is important for EOH on a number of levels:
Feedback from Stuart Jack (Director at EOH WFM Solutions) about the training:
“I’m comfortable with what has been achieved thus far with the training.
I do believe we will need to enhance the knowledge transfer to our Solution Architects on the Meter Deployment, with specific attention to projects that EOH is already involved in.
In this regard we’ll do further planning on this in the coming weeks, and it may require a combination of specialist product training at PROLOGA offices and/or involving of PROLOGA on a consulting basis as needed …”
What does Stuart Jack (Director at EOH WFM Solutions) say about our partnership?
“I would like to see two-way collaboration with PROLOGA globally, in so much as EOH has a global delivery team and operates across multiple countries and regions.
This will extend the delivery capabilities in new geographies and allow EOH to cross train further delivery resources at our various offices…”
PROLOGA thinks that we were able to win a strong and globally acting partner with EOH. We are looking forward to the cooperation and the first projects with EOH.
For CIOs, digital transformation will continue to be the guiding theme in 2017 and in the coming years. But what does this really mean?
It’s about technically illustrating existing processes without IT support and linking separate digitized business processes together.
Companies increasingly face the question of how to expand their existing and tested systems to keep pace with ever-shorter innovation cycles and to introduce new processes as fast as possible.
PROLOGA proved the SAP® Cloud Platform as a potential innovation engine for the digitization of business processes and an accelerated provision for new functions within of these processes. In addition to a short development cycle, PROLOGA’s self-imposed goal was the least possible impact of the innovations on the core systems.
With this aim, PROLOGA created a mobile client for waste collection using the industrial solution SAP® Waste and Recycling and SAP® Mobile Order Management by PROLOGA. The mobile solution enables electronic transmission of work orders to mobile employees, documentation of service quality, recording of feedback data for performance calculation as well as recording working time of the involved. After the end of a day’s work, the recorded working hours can be transferred to SAP® Success Factor and processed there according to internal business requirements. The application is generally available after successful certification by the SAP ICC (SAP Integration and Certification Center).
Due to our experience with such technologies, further Cloud-Platform-Solutions in the area of SAP® for Utilities and SAP® Waste and Recycling in development and planning!

We successfully participated in European Utility Week 2015 in Vienna. We will introduce and present our latest developments in the utility industry at the SAP stand during European Utility Week 2016 in Barcelona.
This year our focus is on using the SAP HANA Cloud Platform and the preparation for our client lead-in for working with S/4 HANA.
Both topics will be the center point of SAP’s strategy for the future. While concentrating on essential digital core functions, the SAP HANA Cloud Platform will be an important foundation for the expansion of S4/HANA. By introducing this change to the enhancement concept and the prospective ERP release, we present our new cloud solution for balancing group monitoring for SAP IS-U clients in the electricity and gas sectors. With a compact implementation effort, we support our customers who continue their own strategies for digitalizing business processes.
With the development of S4/HANA and a user interface change-over in SAP Fiori, we announced one of the most known and used Customer Interaction Center functions. The challenge for most of our customers consists of reflecting their front office processes. For this reason we presented our Business Process Modeler. This tool supports companies by linking single SAP Fiori applications to a sophisticated yet flexible product for SAP users in back office areas.
The presentation of our latest products through Utility Week generates interest with customers and our partner, SAP. During this event we held some interesting conversations with existing clients and established new contacts.

The PROLOGA GmbH Company expands its SAP® Mobile Order Management for Waste and Recycling product with another mobile application. Proven product functions from the commercial disposal branch were transferred to the Wirtschaftsbetriebe Duisburg (WBD) with a focus on local waste collection and management.
For bulky waste collection with the WBD, it was necessary to print the order lists from the organization software. As with most other local companies, returned information (like the date, working time or deviations from the commission) was also recorded. To digitalize this process and to reduce paper costs, the WBD published a tender in 2015. Its goal: depict the disposal process and document service quality. Thanks to our longstanding experience with SAP® Waste and Recycling and our expertise in mobile applications, PROLOGA was able to win this tender.
Together with the WBD, we developed the SAP® Mobile Order Management for Waste and Recycling product to enhance and customize the bulky waste order process for them. After a one-month test phase, the WBD has been successfully using this solution for scrap and bulky waste disposal since July 1, 2016.
From now on, this product ensures that the bulky waste disposal process with its requisite collection times and routes will be documented with collection area photos. The application makes it possible to record the cleanliness before and after the refuse pick-up process. The WBD is thereby in a position to guarantee a quality of service for their clients and to contribute to a cleaner city.
By integrating digital maps with the navigation software Maptrip from Infoware, truck drivers can find the optimal way to their collection address. Fuel is thereby conserved and time saved during route preparation and post-processing. The result is a reduced environmental impact.
After successfully introducing the WBD into bulky waste disposal, PROLOGA is now searching for other possible applications for this mobile application.
Design and developing of an SAP® UI5 (HTML5) interface for an existing route and district planning solution
As part of the cooperation with the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg from April 2015 to March 2016 PROLOGA supported 9 students of the Bachelor program in computer science in processing their project internship.
According to the route planning solution SAP® Dispatching and Planning by PROLOGA the task was to analyse the requirements of a modern route and district planning and prototypically implement the results in a web application.
Based on the requirements of PROLOGA the participants created a blue print document and became acquainted with the programming guidelines for SAP® UI5. After that the students created a web application, in which the basic functions of a route and district planning have been mapped. The project was presented to the managing directors of PROLOGA. On 31/03/2016 the project results have been successfully presented at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.
The compiled results will be used for further products of PROLOGA and help to increase the user friendliness as well as to open up new areas of application (e.g. use on mobile devices).
Team leader of the project was Benjamin Diedering. The project was supervised by Dr. Gabrisch (Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg) and Mark Patzlaff (PROLOGA GmbH).
There are three core problems that affect waste management systems: no end-to-end control, processes and information trapped in silos, and an inability to respond and plan in real-time to scenarios. SAP and PROLOGA, to address many of the challenges around this industry and help Africa´s urban regions to create a cleaner environment, resulting in less littering and proactive beautification of the area.

Water is a precious commodity in Morocco – so it is even more important to deal with it responsibly and to transparently map all processes related to the water supply and adapt them to current customer needs. The Moroccan water company ONEE Branche Eau has realized this and opted for SAP Mobile On-Site Billing for SAP Utilities by PROLOGA, in order to optimize the processes related to the reading and billing of the water consumption and to reduce the costs.
Especially in the light of the partly long distances in the supply area, this is an interesting topic. With SAP Mobile On-Site Billing ONEE is able to avoid the previously time consuming delivery of invoices to the customers and the delayed cash flow that goes along with it. The experience has shown that the various processes, such as the recording, transfer and checking of meter readings will proceed significantly faster and easier than before. Invoices can be immediately created and delivered to the customer; the payment process is accelerated accordingly. It is also possible to document local issues at the point of consumption directly. This has the advantage to detect consumption variances early and to be able to react quickly.
In addition to saving financial and human resources by optimizing the reading and billing process, ONEE also benefits from increased customer satisfaction and consumer confidence when using SAP Mobile On-Site Billing.

The energy policy of the European Union pursues the objective of an EU-wide, unified gas market. By the intended liberalization and harmonization of the single markets the competitive pressure increases, since formerly nationally operating companies get active also abroad. Moreover, there is a need for action for the gas companies in order to implement the European regulatory requirements at the IT level. Especially in Eastern Europe there is a high demand for efficient solutions to implement business processes duly and market role-specifically in the respective SAP system.
Germany takes a pioneering role here. An example for that is the basic model for compensatory payments and accountancy rules in the gas sector (GABi Gas 2.0). In many European countries market roles such as Distribution System Operators, Transport System Operators or Suppliers are already defined, but there is a high need for adaptation, for example in case of the network codex of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG). In addition, increasing quality demands regarding data exchange processes between the various market partners arise, which further increase the requirements for the SAP Energy Data Management (SAP EDM). So flexible solutions for the implementation of business processes to the SAP EDM are needed, that are compliant to the market role specific rules of the companies in the gas sector. On the one hand such solutions must ensure the energy supply, on the other hand they must enable the companies a transparent cost control and high data quality.
Sustainable allocation management
In some countries Distribution System Operators need regulatory required functionalities to perform a correct allocation determination in order to identify the temperature-dependent daily consumption of customers that are not interval metered. For this purpose coefficients for different customer groups, calendar information and temperature data are required. Therefore weather data can automatically be downloaded from a weather data service provider and transferred to the SAP EDM for a proper calculation of the consumption.
The increased demands are particularly evident by the EU regulation that requires to convert the gas consumption from cubic meters to kWh performing a Technical Quantity Determination (TQD) based on the calorific value and the gas volume. This represents a major challenge for many Distribution System Operators. Since several grids with different calorific values can inject into one interconnection point with a different network in behind, the Distribution System Operator must convert the received data. For this, a comprehensive calorific value management is needed. Apart from the data import and the calorific value determination, a calorific value management must also include updating processes for billing and reference calorific values. The possibility to calculate the compressibility by a complete molar gas analysis is also of advantage, insofar as this is allowed by the technical equipment of the Distribution System Operator. In this way a conversion of the operating volume of the gas into the standard volume can be made and afterwards the amount of energy can be determined automatically. A calculation of the conversion factor is also necessary for the following processes.
Representation of the grid topology
For the Transport System Operator (TSO) on the other hand, the representation of real existing network interconnection points such as transfer stations between two grids or entry- and exit points at gas storages is important in order to plan the gas supply as efficiently as possible. Therefore you need a comprehensive capacity and nomination management that enables the TSO to represent the current grid situation. For this purpose information concerning the capacity situation at the respective interconnection points must be available, such as the particular, technically maximum capacity and the capacity booked per shipper or supplier.
The focus of the gas supplier is the adequate supply of the customers who are bound by contract. To that end the required amounts of energy per market area must be nominated at the virtual trading point. In order to ensure high-quality data here, the forecast of the expected gas consumption as well as the validation of the time series received from the market partner is essential.
Avoidance of double settlements
In order to meet these complex requirements, PROLOGA has developed the solution “SAP EDM, add-on for gas regulatory compliance“ specifically for companies in the gas sector. It is an enhancement of the SAP IS-U and maps the functions of the allocation, nomination, capacity or balancing group management, among others via intuitive functions. The solution also provides utility companies with comprehensive monitoring functionalities to analyze the master data quality.
For balancing group managers, the solution provides a balancing group monitor that displays the received settlement results in a graphical and hierarchical form. Incoming messages regarding the balancing group status are processed automatically. Furthermore, many other gas-specific market communication formats, e.g. defined by EDIG@S like CAPNOT, CAPRES, DELORD, DELRES, IMBNOT, NOMINT, NOMRES, TRANOT or SSQNOT, are integrated.
By the complete integration in SAP IS-U, the “SAP EDM, add-on for gas regulatory compliance by PROLOGA“ ensures consistent business processes and allows gas companies the efficient implementation of regulatory requirements, in order to remain competitive with customer-oriented processes, even in the liberalized, EU-wide harmonized gas market.
In November 2013, the United Arab Emirates won their application to host the Expo 2020. Since 2008/2009 DEWA is in a 3-stage implementation of the SAP platform into the company.
In the light of the Expo 2020, the focus of the current SAP implementation phase is the fulfillment of customer needs and the provision of sustainable digital services.
Under the slogan “Creating the Future”, a Smart City project was initiated. Part of this project is the installation of an Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) for more than 1.500.000 smart meters in Dubai. PROLOGA supports the Expo host in the preparation, planning and implementation of the smart meter roll-out.

Numerous participants from the utility industry accepted the invitation to Halle and attended the first PROLOGA Energy conference from 12th to 13th of November. The focus of the event was the meter point exact excess and shortfall billing. In future this must be done independently and separately from the grid usage billing. For two years now the PROLOGA Energy GmbH deals with the requirement which gets binding now. During the conference the company presented their solution for a meter point exact excess and shortfall billing that is universally applicable in both the gas and the electricity sector. Also customers got a chance to speak – Volker Ulrich, Asset Manager SWS Netze Solingen, told of the experience in implementing the meter point exact excess and shortfall billing separated from the grid usage billing and gave interesting insights into the practice. Since this problem gets relevant for many grid operators on 1st of February 2015, the conference offered the perfect opportunity for a professional exchange and networking.
Especially in the evening of November 12th varying discussions could be led. By a vintage bus the participants were led to historical places of the city and afterwards they completed the first conference day with a common dinner.
After the successful PROLOGA Energy conference this year we can look forward to coming projects for their customers and partners. At the end of the 2nd day the participants were staggered by the wealth of products that PROLOGA holds for their customers, including BSI compliant metering, functional ranges for HANA real-time analysis and the use of modern SAP Fiori user interfaces.
On the 4th of November 2014 the sixth graduate fair Middle Germany took place at the Congress Center Leipzig. Around 1.200 students, graduates and professionals took advantage of this opportunity and got talking to companies from various industries. PROLOGA was also represented at a joint booth of the Cluster IT Middle Germany and informed about their portfolio and job vacancies in the company. In the afternoon Managing Director Jens Frenzel offered interesting insights into current projects of PROLOGA and illustrated possible fields for young professionals after their education – numerous guests attended his speech „Utilities – An industry goes online“, in which he provided information to a smart metering project in the United Arab Emirates.
The colleagues on site were happy about the great interest of the visitors and were able to establish promising contacts.
With their products and projects PROLOGA offers excellent career prospects in the IT sector and many ways to fulfill oneself. As job starter you have the chance to start your career successfully; skilled professionals have the opportunity to face new and exciting challenges.
